The Municipality of Črnomelj is located in south-eastern Slovenia. The municipality is at the heart of the area of White Carniola (Bela Krajina). It is now included in the South-east Slovenia Statistical Region and it is, by its surface, 5th biggest municipality in Republic of Slovenia. Črnomelj is situated 35 km from the connection to the Slovenian motorway and 30 km from the connection to the Croatian motorway. The distance to the nearest Slovenian airport for international traffic (Ljubljana) is 120 km and 100 km to the airport in Zagreb, Croatia. In the vicinity there are ports of Koper, Rijeka and Trieste. There is also the Novo mesto – Črnomelj – Karlovac (Croatia) railway line nearby. The construction of the so-called third development axis has been pencilled in the national motorway construction programme as the backbone connecting regional centres in Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, and linking road transport to the European transport corridors.
There are 10 business zones, eight of them are mostly private property and two are public. The two of them that are public are Business park TRIS Kanižarica and Business zone Majer.
The business park TRIS Kanižarica: Situated south-west of Črnomelj. The park has all the necessary infrastructure needed for companies. There is water supply, separate sewerage system, power supply, telecommunications and gas network, as well as public lighting. Intended use: The area is intended for business and manufacturing activities. The central area is mostly occupied with manufacturing and storage buildings and business premises; however, there are some vacant plots available in between. Within the business park, a large number of plots are available, measuring from 2,000 sq meters up to 10,000 sq meters, while their position allows uniting individual units in accordance with the needs of the investor.

Municipality Črnomelj is full of cultural, artistic, sport, technological, economic and touristic possibilities. The region has preserved unpolluted and untouched environment with fertile land and vast forests.
We have two landscape parks, one in on the river Lahinja and the other one is on the river Kolpa.
We are proud that our river Kolpa was chosen for an European destination of excellence of 2010. Along its 113-kilometre length, this warm, clear river links tourist destinations of sustainable excellence in the far south-east of Slovenia. Boating and swimming, cycle paths, meditation trails and footpaths lead from story to story. Here you can really experience the hospitality of nature and people. Bela krajina also belongs to Slovenia Green destination.
Municipality of Črnomelj is also the home of unique Black proteus. It is the only other recognized subspecies of the proteus. It is endemic to the underground waters near Črnomelj. It was first found in 1986 by members of the Slovenian Karst Research Institute.
Many cultural, tourism, fire - department and sport societies are keeping the level of life (after work time) as much as fun and relaxing as possible. Everyone can find something to fulfill his free time and work on his personal growth. Throughout the year we also have many events and also festivals that keep the atmosphere in municipality high and still evolving.
Jurjevanje is one of them. It's the oldest folklore festival in Slovenia and a member of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts CIOFF. The festival celebrates cultural diversity and strives to present a melange of traditional and modern principles, of local and international elements. It has become a tool for pursuing the principles of sustainable and integrated development of Bela krajina.
The other festival is Črnfest that is organized by youth and grows each year more and more. Set with a slogan: “Good for all” is really catching in crowd of Bela krajina people. This is festival full of good music, culinary, sport games, laugh and program for children.
